The Barre City Fire Department services the City of Barre, Vermont  
located in the center of the state.  The City of Barre has a population of approx
9,500 people and covers 4.0 square miles.

It operates as part of the Capital Fire Mutual Aid System.
---    The Barre City Fire Department consists of 1 full time Fire Chief, 17                
       full-time IAFF Local 881 members, & 20 Call force members.
---    Full-time members work a 24-hour shift on-duty and 72-hour off         
   schedule.    Members are called back routinely to cover the station as               
  ambulance and fire calls come in.

---    The Barre City Fire Department operates two engines / rescue         
   pumpers, one tower ladder, two ALS ambulances, Two Utility Trucks,
   one Haz-mat deacon trailer,  one Technical rescue trailer, and
   one command vehicle.

---    There is only one operational fire station in the City of Barre.
